“My mantra has always been to keep one foot in the cellar and one foot in the vineyard. It's a real pleasure working with Ben and David, refining our winemaking protocols, as well as assisting Philippe and Jean-Marie with our winegrowing / biodynamic management practices at our Annadel Gap Vineyard."

Natalie Winkler

Assistant Winemaker

Hailing from Kansas City, Natalie grew up around the mid-west rural lifestyle of farms, cattle and wheat. She first fell in love with wine and vines after moving to the Willamette Valley in Oregon for college. Post undergrad (Spanish, Political Science), in 2009 Natalie jumped on a plane to Spain for vintage at Bodega Elias Mora in Toro and never looked back; deciding to stay on and obtain her Master’s in Enology and Viticulture at the University of Valladolid (Ribera del Duero, Spain).

Prior to joining the Westwood team, Natalie was assistant winemaker and vineyard manager at Mill Creek Vineyard and Winery in Dry Creek Valley, California. In the off season of 2013, she traveled to Victoria, Australia for harvest at Delatite Winery. During harvest in 2015 she worked in Bordeaux at Chateau Fontenil; owned and operated by Dany and Michel Rolland. Vintage experience in California, Bordeaux, Spain and Australia has provided Natalie with an array of global winemaking techniques.

In addition to Westwood, she apprentices with Philippe Coderey, biodynamic vineyard consultant, at various estates throughout Sonoma and Napa. When she’s not covered in grape muck or tendrils, you can generally find her outside running, hiking, rock climbing, gardening, or skiing.
