So, starting in 2001 and over the next several years, we meticulously planted our Annadel Gap Vineyard to rare clones of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, Counoise, Mourvedre, Roussanne and Viognier. For the last decade, Westwood focused on making limited amounts of Pinot Noir and Rhone Blends as we learned about the site and our craft.
A New Winery with a Long History
And in 2014, the partners agreed that Westwood was ready to meet the world. Carl Stanton, a long-time Westwood partner and wine lover teamed up with celebrated Sonoma winemaker, David Ramey, to assemble some of the best artisans in Sonoma. Ben Cane joined to lead our winemaking team after seven years heading Twomey Cellars. Together the Westwood team represents a team as unique as the Estate itself.
Carl M. Stanton: - Managing Partner & Founding Partner
“So what makes our team and partnership at Westwood different? It's the way we treat our family - our partners and our patrons. It's the joy that we share in our love of the land and the wine. It's the passion we have for wine, and the way it brings us all together. And it's our resolve to grow and make the absolute best wine. That’s Westwood.”
The Founding Partners have been close friends and partners for over 20 years. The very creation of Westwood was based on their desire to join together as friends in a new venture -- a calling -- which would last their lifetimes.
