2007 4-Part Rosé, Annadel Estate, Sonoma Valley

Released February 2009, 48 cases produced
Internet-Direct Price: $16.50 / 750 mL bottle

Our bone-dry Rosé started life as a saignée de cuve (literally, ’bleeding the tank’) from four different Rhone varietals - where we get the ’4-Part’ name from.

This 4-Part Rosé is more serious than your usual California pink wine, and at the same time more approachable than our earthy 2006 bottling. The blend is 51% Grenache, 27% Mourvedre, 13% Counoise and 10% Syrah from our Estate.

This Rosé may be Westwood’s most versatile food wine. The 4-Part Rosé is consistently a great match with hard-to-pair things like asparagus and artichoke. It is supremely good with mussels, clams or fish poached in wine with fennel, garlic and tomato, and pairs nicely with raw oysters. It is a perfect Summer wine, but we always keep some around for Holiday meals - it is a wonderful match with turkey and ham.

Winemaker's tasting notes:
In the glass the wine shows a medium salmon color and perfect clarity. Complex mineral notes over strawberry, rhubarb, mango and lemon flower aromas with flint, white pepper and vanilla cream. In the mouth the wine initially shows a full-bodied butterfat texture which opens to fruit and flint, then grades into a leaner structured middle and finish, showing good acid and tannin balance. Long finish of citrus and spice with hints of toasted marshmallow.

Our 2007 Rosé is intended as a wine for drinking now, though it may reward cellaring - the 2006 Rosé has developed beautifully in the bottle.

Our 4-Part Rosé may be Westwood’s most food pairing versatile wine. It is also a perfect wine for sipping on the deck on a warm Summer evening, even over ice.
